Getting to Costa Dulce: You can fly into Managua, Nicaragua or Liberia, Costa Rica. Managua is about a 2.5 hour drive from the airport, and Liberia is similar. However there is a border crossing from Costa Rica to Nicaragua that is variable in the time it can take to cross. Anything from no wait to 30-60 minutes.

Below are the best flights I have found as good options traveling to and from the Bay area. You do not need to take these flights, they are just recommendations.

Getting to and from Costa Dulce is about a 2-3 hour drive. We have scheduled a group shuttle for your convenience and reduced rates. The group shuttle, which is about $40 per person, each way.

If you prefer to take a private taxi, rates are below, and your taxi will be arranged by the resort with a trusted driver. Cars can fit 3 to 4 people depending on how much luggage each person has.

As the retreat gets closer, we will have a group spreadsheet with everyone’s travel info, so you can potentially carpool with others. And the retreat center will get your ride setup if that’s your preference.

Group Shuttle times:

Pick up in Managua on Saturday February 22 at 9:30am. Its about a 2 hour drive to Costa Dulce. It will pick up at The Best Western Las Mercedes hotel, and at the airport.

Depart from Costa Dulce to Managua on Friday February 28 at 9am. A flight at 1pm or later is best.

Recommended Flights From SFO to Managua

1. Friday February 21, 1:20pm - 11:05pm. Avianca SFO to MGA (Managua), short layover in El Salvador.

United also has this flight available, however if you book on United you will have to call Avianca to get the seats booked.

Recommended hotel near Managua Airport: Best Western Las Mercedes. The shuttle will pick up here on Sunday morning. You can also reach out to anyone joining early to share a room if you want.

2. Redeye: Friday February 21, 11:15pm - 9:05am. Taca Air, SFO to MGA, short layover in El Salvador.

Departing back to San Francisco

Friday February 28 - 11:30am. United MGA to SFO, layover in Miami.

Friday February 28 2:18pm - 10:55pm. American MGA to SFO, layover in Miami.
